Education

Education of our members is an important part of club.

From the training of safety with firearms and archery equipment to our rights as United States citizens.  We offer many opportunities for our members to learn and sharpen the skills in whatever area they are interested.  For the youth there is Firearms Safety Course and Archery classes for both the beginner and the advance to the options for the adults such as Conceal & Carry Training.

Firearms Safety All Day Range Day

This All Day Range Day is for students who have completed the Online Hunter Safety Course thru the MN DNR and earned their certificate.

Youth ages 11 and older can attend a firearms certification course and receive their certificate.  The Firearms Safety Certificate becomes valid at age 12.
DNR Firearms Certification is required of anyone born after December 31, 1979 to purchase a hunting license in Minnesota (check requirements in other states).

In the subject line indicate the preferred scheduled all day range day or to be
added to the waiting list.  (Note: Ron will contact those who have sent him an
email to advise of scheduled range days.  Typically, these classes are not posted
on the MN DNR website until just before the scheduled range day.)

What to Bring:

Proof of online training completion
Copy of birth certificate or driver's license
$7.50 fee

Bring clothing to be comfortable in the current outdoor environment, as about 4 hours of activities will take place outside.  It is strongly recommended to wear rubber or waterproof boots when there is rain, melting snow cover, puddles or mud.  Class still occurs under most weather conditions.  (Note: if there is a cancellation due to extreme weather conditions you will be notified via email the night before)

You may bring a firearm of some sort, preferably a .22 LR caliber.  If you don't have a .22 caliber, it is permissible to bring a different firearm as long as it is in good working condition.  Students will use their firearm for the field exercise.  In most cases students will use our .22 LR caliber bolt action rifles on the firing line for safety reasons.  It is much easier for range officers to identify open chambers and help avoid unsafe situations.

Do NOT bring any ammunition of any kind!

Other Items to Note:
Parents must stay for registration and a short meeting at the beginning.
A lunch will be provided for the students.  If you have any food allergies it would be advisable to pack a lunch.
At the end of the day passing students will receive a signed copy of their registration and information on how to use the certificate to go online and receive a printable copy of your Firearms Safety Certificate.
